El Bolsón, Argentina...Spring is here!

El Bolsón, Argentina

View of the river about a block from our hostel.  Beautiful, warm, and clear days!

Dave and I found a little home away from home in El Bolsón!  We used this place as a great place for thanksgiving and a stopover for a fun trek out to two mountain refugios.  Thanksgiving was a bit unconventional because we didn´t have an oven, but the beef stew turned out great and we had a nice time.  The best part about El Bolsón were the sights, so I´ll spare the writing and caption the pictures.  Enjoy!

Microbrews abound all over this tiny town!

The owners (Claudio and Valeria) of our hostel, Hospedaje Pehuenia prepared a delicious asado of different lamb and beef cuts.  Claudio insisted that he take a picture of his meat for us.  He went to culinary school in Buenos Aires after growing up in El Bolsón and returned after being fed up with the crazy city life.  He also loves to ski :)

Lupines are in bloom and the turquiose waters of the rivers are rushing!  This is the Rio Azul on the first day of our hike up into the mountains to the refugios.

First ultra-sketchy bridge of the trip, crossing the Rio Azul

Heilo Azul.  Campsite #1

Soaking up the sun.  Afterward, Dave and I took a short nap on this field.

Refugio Heilo Azul.  The camping area is to the left of this cute little refugio. 2nd day.

Beautiful flowers in bloom all over the trail. 2nd day.

After hiking up and up and up and up, we descended into the Cajon de Azul. 2nd day.

Dave said that I looked like I could have come straight out of the 80s.  Waking up on the 3rd day at Refugio Cajon de Azul.

Refugio Cajon de Azul.  This place is AWESOME!  The owner has lived out in the countryside for 25 years.  There is no road access all the way to his house, just partial.  Horse...yes!

Looking back up the Cajon de Azul on our 3rd day, heading back to El Bolsón.

Lunch Spot Panorama.  Not too Shabby.
